"There is magic in the feel of the paddle and the movement of a canoe, a magic compounded of distance, adventure, solitude and peace. The way of a canoe is the way of the wilderness and of a freedom almost forgotten. It is an antidote to insecurity, the open door to waterways of ages past and a way of life with profound and abiding satisfactions. When a man is a part of his canoe, he is a part of all that canoes have ever known.”
—S. F. Olson, The Singing Wilderness
Thirty-six miles of the historic and picturesque, central Pennsylvania Juniata River is paddled by a select group of Hameau campers. Those returning for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th summers are welcome to join us as we camp, cook, float and discover the ‘magic in the feel of the paddle’. As this option tends to fill first, let us know early if you are ready for this challenge.
